Lexmark Z 31 Printer Ink Cartridge - Revamp The Way Your Business Prints

October 24th, 2009

If you are considering buying a very basic printer, the Lexmark Z 31 could well be the answer. On its launch, it was never going to win any awards for concept or design. The passing of time has done little to improve this. Just two LEDs alongside the same number of buttons for power and paper feed make up the control panel, on the rather austere boxy casing. However, this non fussy design does allow for dusting and cleaning to be completed with no effort.

As has become expected from the team at Lexmark, set-up and installation couldn’t be simpler. Whilst you may need to download the relevant drivers for your computer, you should have your test page printed within 15 to 20 minutes of removing it from the box.

In keeping with the very basic design and look, the printer has a neatly folding top paper tray, with a bin capacity of 100 sheets. In addition to this, there is also provision for single feeding of paper sheets and envelopes, etc. When printing, resolution can be up to an impressive maximum of 1200×1200dpi. At this level, speed is pedestrian, but the quality is close to laser good.

The speed of print production can be increased up to a maximum of 8 pages per minute (ppm) when printing in black and white, and 3.5ppm for color. However, this is using the “Quick Print” setting, which reduces resolution back to 600×600dpi. When using this setting, colors can fade dramatically too. Whilst resolution is also 600×600 on the “Normal” setting, color vibrancy does improve.

The Lexmark Z 31 is further hindered by its minimal connection via parallel port with no serial port option, let alone the popular USB connectivity. It is also only easily compatible with Windows operating systems, though as mentioned earlier, XP and Vista drivers will need to be downloaded from the Internet.

There are some saving graces for the Lexmark Z 31 however, as it retains some nice features. It was one of the first printers to be given Lexmark’s “Accu-Feed” paper handling system, to minimize blockages for example.

Other pluses come from the near laser quality printing of photographs. Whilst the speed is slow, the maximum setting will give you rich and deep reproductions. When printing to photo paper too, a professional finish is returned.

Out of the box, you will have everything needed to set-up and go, making it a great idea for a kid’s first printer. Included in the box are a black, and color Lexmark Z 31 Ink Cartridge. Printer Ink is as simple to replace as you would expect from this user friendly piece of kit, being no harder than lifting the top, letting the print heads come to the middle automatically, and then switching the old ones for the new. Lexmark Printer ink Cartridge is trusted worldwide.
